Organised by Caritas town, with the collaboration of VitActiva, Avanguardia Studentesca e Arci, il corteo ha preso il via da Piazza Cesare Battisti e ha percorso parte del Corso fino a Via Duomo, per poi terminare in Piazza dei Bambini, luogo simbolo dei recenti episodi di violenza verificatisi a Corato.
Alla marcia hanno preso parte, tra gli altri, sindaco e rappresentanti di diversi schieramenti politici (dai Giovani Comunisti a Noididestra), la Chiesa Cattolica, la Chiesa Evangelica, la Moschea coratina, rappresentanti di alcune scuole locali e svariate associazioni.
VitActiva ha partecipato al corteo con un significativo striscione che recitava "E' l'ignoranza che crea la violenza", ed ha installato un gazebo in piazza per raccogliere alcune testimonianze ed impressioni about the violence and intolerance to which we are sadly accustomed.

Per concludere, riteniamo che la giornata del 28 abbia lanciato un segnale importante, e che abbia dato voce ai coratini che si schierano apertamente contro l'intolleranza e la violenza, andando ad interrompere quel silenzio che la protegge e la favorisce.

Chiesta una nuova intitolazione dell’area del centro storico

Una piazza dedicata ai bimbi del mondo

Rendere Corato una città a misura di bambino, democratica, aperta, interculturale e multietnica, attenta alla persona umana, ai suoi bisogni ed ai suoi diritti, indipendentemente dal colore della pelle o dalla provenienza. Da qui la richiesta di cambiare l’intitolazione di «Piazza dei Bambini», nel centro storico coratino, in «Piazza dei Bambini del Mondo »: la proposta è stata avanzata, nei giorni scorsi, durante la marcia per la pace organizzata dalla Caritas cittadina.

Una manifestazione che ha riscosso una grande risposta democratica da parte della città di Corato così come l’«Appello per la Pace, per l’Intercultura, per la Legalità, per la Nonviolenza», sottoscritto da ben 35 tra associazioni, scuole, gruppi, parties and movements, through the website specifically activated by Caritas.
